Shearline Boatworks is a unique builder of custom Carolina Boats
that utilizes the latest advances in 3-Dimensional Computer Design
complemented by CNC Routed components. The use of this technology
allows the customer to design the exact boat he has in mind. The
building process starts with the customer interfacing with our computer
design software and drafting his vessel. Starting with power and
length constraints, the process evolves into a completed boat.
The Shearline customer has the ability to design every aspect of
the project from fishbox size and location, to the position and
shape of the center console. Clarifying the final design in 3-D
gives the customer and builder every opportunity to examine the
entire project, and agree upon the 'Final Construction Drawings.'
This process saves time on the shop floor, as the design is conveyed
to a CNC Router, and physical construction begins.
All Shearline Boats are then cold molded on the CNC Jig, and hand
built by skilled carpenters. All cloth is hand laid, and West Systems
Epoxy is the only system utilized during construction. The wooden
core of the boat is encapsulated in epoxy and cloth, leaving no
wood exposed and every surface coated. The boat is then hand sanded
to its finish surface, exclusively utilizing AwlGrip paint products
and topcoat.
Rigging and hardware is all placed on the boat at the direction
of the owner, from the style of rod holders, to the length of the
outriggers, and preference in navigation lights. The final product
is a perfect Carolina Boat, built specifically for one customer,
one at a time.
